If you compile openSSL for 64bit, you should get a noticable improvement at least for MD5 hashes, because there are assembler routines enabled for 64bit on Solaris 7/8/9 ...
I personally use 64bit OpenSSL on solaris and I cannot tell whether the speedup I'm seeing is directly releated to OpenSSL, or just the rest of my program, but there is a definate improvement. I have not run any benchmarks on OpenSSL directly though. -Brad Steve Ginsberg wrote: > Hi All, > > Does anyone have information, or an opinion on relative performance of > compiling openSSL as a 64 bit or a 32 bit application?
