Sorry if this is a dumb question that has been answered in countless threads
and FAQ's I just don't seem to have found those particular ones.

I have installed openssl 0.9.6d and generated a CA and a certificate (in pem
format) using CA.pl.

I configured mod_ssl 2.8.8 and mod_perl into apache1.3.24

All looks happy and I installed apache successfully.

When I try to start apache, however (whether I try apachectl start or
startssl) I get the following error :

[Fri Jun 7 08:51:05 2002] [error] mod_ssl: Init: Failed to generate
temporary 512 bit RSA private key (OpenSSL library error foll
ows)
[Fri Jun 7 08:51:05 2002] [error] OpenSSL: error:24064064:random number
generator:SSLEAY_RAND_BYTES:PRNG not seeded
[Fri Jun 7 08:51:05 2002] [error] OpenSSL: error:04069003:rsa
routines:RSA_generate_key:BN lib

I am running on solaris 8, do not have /dev/random or /dev/urandom but have
a .rnd file in the $HOME directory. I created this on a Linux box and then
copied it to solaris. I then tried generating a key using the openssl
(openssl genrsa -des3 -rand file1 -out my.key 1024) command and this
generated a new .rnd file.

Any suggestion?
