I have recently setup my own CA at my company for internal use only, the
purpose of this is to be able to generate my own certificates for code
signing and ssl server authentication. The problem I have ran into is in
regards to creating the Software Publishing Certificates and pvk file for
use with IE. I think I was that I was able to create the SPC file but not
the pvk. I am running OpenSSL 0.9.6b on both my Linux box and windows box
(cygwin). The documentation from Dr Stephen N. Henson's site
http://www.drh-consultancy.demon.co.uk/ was excellent, but I was
unsuccessful generating a pvk file with the conversion tool that I
downloaded from the site. I would get and error running the following
command:
pvk -in key.pem -out key.pvk

error:
The ordinal 400 could not be located in the dynamic link LIBEAY32.dll

I am not even sure that I followed the proper procedure to go from a p12
cert to spc.

I have the following questions:

What are the proper procedures for creating a spc file?
Is there a new version of the pvk conversion utility?
What are the requiremets for this conversion utility?
How can I generate a valid pvk in order to sign java applets with
signcode.exe?

I would appreciate the help
