I resent this too. Rather than using an OpenSSL mailing list for drumming
up nationalistic emotions under the guise of compassion, could you please
better focus your energies? Possible suggestions include;
  - donating time, money, blood, or any other resources you have to offer
to the people in need of all such things,
  - educating yourself and others to what victims of terrorism suffer and
how their lives are affected - both in the US and abroad (it's the same
disease and the same suffering; it only differs in scale, frequency,
and meaningless labels such as "sides").
  - finding a *much* better place to carry out whatever discussion of this
    you feel the need for.

But whatever you decide to do, could you please refrain from posting
opinions or propoganda to this list, especially given the international
nature of it. The international communities pretty unanimously condemn the
actions we've witnessed recently that you are referring to, and I doubt
anyone on this list would dream of doing otherwise. Don't presume however
that a "call to arms" is a de-facto attitude and position held by all over
the planet or that the concept is acceptable or digestable to all. Posting
off-topic mails of that nature to this list is not only inappropriate, it
is potentially downright offensive. Your doing so can not be justified by
an assumption that your one (narrow) way of diagnosing and reacting to a
very bad problem is shared by all. At least if the subject was on-topic, it
would be appropriate to debate the subject - but it is not, and should not.
Nobody will debate this topic with you to any great extent, to do so would
be appalingly bad taste. It is equally bad taste for you to exploit that
situation to spread this sort of thing.

Out of respect for all concerned - please end this type of discussion on
this channel. It is not the place, and it is not the time.

Regards,
Geoff
