As you can see, your server does not offer the STARTTLS upgrade on the
normal port 143, so either it was not compiled with SSL or or there is
something wrong with your certificate setup.

Failure of an SSL connection when there is something wrong with your
SSL setup is only consequent, see above.

* Please check, whether SSL support is compiled in.
* Please check, whether there are error messages in your logfiles.
