It's hard to say for sure because there is no way to know what your level of
expertise is, but I think you can go a long way by
1. getting a good book like Rescorla's (www.rtfm.com/sslbook)
2. looking at the applications in the apps/ directory, while at the same
time
3. looking at the documentation in www.openssl.org/docs
4. look through the archives of the -users mailing list when you are
confused
5. post a question to the -users mailing list when your stumped.
I have the Rescorla book which I can reccomend. Some folks also like a book
by Stephen Thomas http://www.wiley.com/compbooks/catalog/38354-6.htm, though
I have never looked at it.
