OpeSSL (as of 0.9.6) does not automatically use an EGD socket. The application
must explicitly call the RAND_egd() function (or query the socket itself).
Most of the OpenSSL command line applications support the "-rand" option.
As of 0.9.7 (not yet released) will automatically try to query EGD at
some locations. The online documentation on www.openssl.org lists the
state of the latest development snapshot...
