Three parts -
OpenSSL <--> mod_ssl <--> Apache
mod_ssl is the bridge between Apache and SSL. Since it
cannot be built without OpenSSL, they have very nicely
included instructions on building OpenSSL as part of
the instructions for building mod_ssl.
