There is a significant difference between SSH and an SSL enabled application:
For using an SSH tunnel, there must be an authorized SSH connection, meaning
that only people having a valid account will be able to use SSH tunneling.
Having this said: If you only have shell users being able to establish an
SSH session, using SSH is just a question of setting some options.
Unfortunately I had to make the experience, that people are far more willing
to "click" onto an SSL button of a windows application than establish an
SSH tunneling connection. Not even in the faculty of engineering, sigh.
