I need SSL to run Webmin, a DNS administration program. As instructed at
the Webmin site, I downloaded openssl-0.9.5-1.i386.rpm and
Net_SSLeay.pm-1.05.tar.gz. The former, I simply ran, which should have
installed it.  When I try

    perl -MCPAN -e 'install Net::SSLeay'

to install Net_SSLeay, I get a number of error messages. I am advised to
download FTP as soon as possible and that there exists a newer version of
CPAN. For these I was advised to run

    perl -MCPAN -e 'install Bundle::libnet'
and
    perl -MCPAN -e 'install Bundle::CPAN'

respectively. Both of these and the original spewed error messages when
they downloaded a file called CHECKSUM, stating that certain gz files were
missing (they are) and terminated the install(s). The SSLeay install
also...during one of my MANY attempts to install...said it could not find
the openssl libraries and that I might have an incorrect urllist...it
instructed me to run 'o conf urllist'...whatever that might mean.

I am new to LINUX, having worked with older versions of UNIX, so I may be
doing something very wrong without knowing it. In particular, I might have
downloaded the files to the wrong place (/root) and I should be downloading
and installing from somewhere else. I may be wrong about RMP installing
openssl completely. But the truth is that I am completely stumped.

Can anybody help?

Cordially,
Willy Chaplin
