There are differences between the OpenSSL and BSAFE SSL-C,
but you can interchange the current versions with few modifications
to your source code.

Many of the differences are internal and are not seen in the API.
There are advantages to using an Open Source product, and there
are advantages to dealing with an established commercial company.
I don't know which is 'better' on pure technical grounds.  There are
a lot of commercial, political, legal, and other reasons for choosing
one over the other.  IMHO, these factors usually end up being more
important than the technical differences between the two.
