I have run into the same problem. On Linux, /dev/(u)random is provided
which holds random bits. Default Solaris does not have the equivalent.
At the web hosting company we are using, I found out that /dev/random
functionality is sold in a seperate package, which our provider had not
purchased. He did not say which package contained it.

Hope this helps give you a start.
