The "ar" command is a rather basic tool included in most systems. If you
don't have it, you can find it in the GNU binutils package. You can find
it at least in ftp://ftp.gnu.org/pub/gnu/binutils/binutils-2.9.1.tar.gz
as source. And I'm sure there are also precompiled binaries for Sparcs out
there.
