I asume that you mean that the smartcard has an 1024bit key?
If you mean that the browser is 1024 enabled, it will simply work.

If you use a 1024 it certificate/key in an export Netscape browser,
The browser will create a temporary key with a lenght of 512 bit to do
the encoding. How this is done is specified in the SSL standard.

On Exploder I cannot comment.
