It happens to every mailing list sooner or later.  If the problem
becomes overwhelming, the list needs to be closed to non-subscribers.
Not that this limitation is hard to get around, but most spammers
don't bother.  OTOH, such a limitation is a bother to people who, like
myself, subscribe with a different address than the one they use for
posting.  (But this is also not a big problem, so I'll bear the
inconvenience without complaining if this becomes necessary.)

You didn't have to quote the spam so extensively, though.  We have all
seen it once already, and once is once too many.
