One way to eliminate the possibility of accidental transfers is a mandatory confirmation window on the transfer when it's done via dragging an edit window. When the item is dragged, a confirmation box wouldn't be necessary.. just when dragging the window. On the other hand, I don't know of any other interface that creates actions upon dragging a window.
