This thread started because I was unable to install OOo 3.3 RC5 in the just-released S11e. The installation tarball came with a "setup" script (for installation) which works in Ubuntu and S10u9 but not in S11e. I had so much expectation for S11e and this seemingly minor incident really brought back all the grudges, frustrations, and resentments that I had, as a staunchy OpenSolaris advocate, against Sun's OpenOffice/StarOffice team.
Just a shot in the dark. Do you have Openoffice 3.1 installed (from Opensolaris IPS)? If yes, that may be your problem. The release candidates install in the same location, /opt/openoffice.org & /opt/openoffice.org3. Remove the old 3.1 installation first. Also, I have installed successfully the development releases along side the released and release candidate install because it goes int /opt/ooo-dev & /opt/ooo-dev3. Paul
