SchilliX tries to deliver what Solaris users like. This is not the Linux
world... As this is not as available as OSS as Indiana, it will take a bit more
time.

But SchilliX still delivers important things first.

- SchilliX was the first OpenSolaris based distro on June 17th 2005.

- SchilliX was the first Illumox based distro on September 6th 2010.

- SchilliX is the first distro that allows to do "self hosting".
This is allowing to compile Illumos on SchilliX with OSS only.
Well, there is still the Studio Compiler and Java but that's all.

Today, I replaced the last closed other part from the toolchain, a
K&R CPP by a new program based on a historical UNIX source from 1978.

I am happy to see people to cooperate....

SchillIX will most likely not use IPS but a reworked SVr4 package system.
This system is already able to work network oriented and there is only a need
for a user friendly frontend.

The SVr4 package system is expected to be able to do anything IPS can do and
there are many independent sites that deliver SVr4 packages since a long time.

I would need aprox. 5 people who help with various tasks in order to be ready
with a complete solution soon.

The nice thing with the open tasks at SchillIX is that there are mostly
non-overlapping things that could be done independently. If you are interested,
please contact me!

I am in hope that there will not be too many OpenSolaris based distros and that
the distros will work together as much as possible. This starts with talking
about what is worked on.....
