IPS does not currently support source packages.  So if you want to create your 
own binary package, you'll either have have to locate the appropriate source 
code repository and check out the code you're interested in, or download a 
source tarball.

The "Building OpenSolaris" section on 
<http://hub.opensolaris.org/bin/view/Main/downloads> should point you in the 
right direction.
