In partial defense of the situation, opensolaris-discuss _is_
pretty much the none-of-the-above list. All the other lists
are more specific in what they're meant for. So even if this
group were low noise enough that serious and busy people
could check it (probably in addition to other list(s) more
relevant to their work or needs), it would still be a catch-all.
I'd go so far as to say that when there's a lot of excrement around,
it's better to have most of it in one place than to have it everywhere.
I would suppose that it'll settle down after awhile, once either
some of the prior level of communication is restored, or people
come to accept that they simply won't see it in these channels.

You're the judge of your needs and likes. Still, if all
the orderly people leave the neighborhood, it's not
hard to guess what will remain.

As for me, I'll stick around for awhile yet. I've used
almost every OS I can think of except VMS, and
this is the one I understand best and certainly one
of the top few in terms of stability and server features
(and a nice enough desktop on compatible hardware).
Which doesn't keep me from enjoying my Mac, or
fondly remembering Apollo workstations or even ISPF edit
on a mainframe. As long as I don't have to say nice things
about Windows (except that it has taken advantage of a little
of its generous room for improvement), or pretend that the
Linux crowd is a bunch of architecturally gifted engineers
(even if it does pretty much what its participants intended),
I don't have a problem with any of the assorted lot.
