Unfortunately, for LUNs greater than 1TB, I don't think there is any way you can do that. >From http://docs.sun.com/app/docs/doc/817-5093/disksconcepts-14?a=view: "The VTOC label is still available for disks less than 1 terabyte in size. If you are only using disks smaller than 1 terabyte on your systems, managing disks will be the same as in previous Solaris releases. In addition, you can use the format -e command to label a disk less than 1 terabyte with an EFI label." We worked around this in SunOS 5.9 by making smaller LUNs (presented from a SAN in our case.) > "SOBRAL Thiago" <thiago.sob...@accor.com.br> writes: > > > Searching the internet, I found that I need to change from EFI to SMI. > > > > > > > > I tried to follow the tips, but it didn??t work. > > > > > > > > Could you please help me ? > > > > > > > > Sobral > > > > ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- > > > > De: opensolaris-discuss-boun...@opensolaris.org > > [mailto:opensolaris-discuss-boun...@opensolaris.org] Em nome de SOBRAL > > Thiago > > Enviada em: quinta-feira, 7 de maio de 2009 16:34 > > Para: opensolaris-discuss@opensolaris.org > > Assunto: [osol-discuss] Solaris disk label > > > > > > > > Hi everyone, > > > > > > > > Please, I need to create a new volume in the 6540 StorageTek Array and an > > old > > LUN has this label: > > > > > > > > partition> p > > > > Current partition table (original): > > > > Total disk cylinders available: 24248 + 2 (reserved cylinders) > > > > > > > > Part Tag Flag Cylinders Size Blocks > > > > 0 unassigned wm 0 0 (0/0/0) 0 > > > > 1 unassigned wm 0 0 (0/0/0) 0 > > > > 2 backup wu 0 - 24247 47.36GB (24248/0/0) 99319808 > > > > 3 unassigned wm 0 0 (0/0/0) 0 > > > > 4 unassigned wm 0 0 (0/0/0) 0 > > > > 5 unassigned wm 0 0 (0/0/0) 0 > > > > 6 unassigned wm 0 0 (0/0/0) 0 > > > > 7 - wu 0 - 24247 47.36GB (24248/0/0) 99319808 > > > > > > > > But a new LUN that I created brought the label below: > > > > > > > > partition> p > > > > Current partition table (original): > > > > Total disk sectors available: 2571192286 + 16384 (reserved sectors) > > > > > > > > Part Tag Flag First Sector Size Last Sector > > > > 0 usr wm 34 1.20TB 2571192286 > > > > > > 1 unassigned wm 0 0 0 > > > > 2 unassigned wm 0 0 0 > > > > 3 unassigned wm 0 0 0 > > > > 4 unassigned wm 0 0 0 > > > > 5 unassigned wm 0 0 0 > > > > 6 unassigned wm 0 0 0 > > > > 8 reserved wm 2571192287 8.00MB 2571208670 > > > > > > > > How can I change to the first LUN format with seven slices? > > > > > > > > Cheers, > > > > > > > > Thiago Sobral > > > > > > > > _______________________________________________ > > opensolaris-discuss mailing list > > opensolaris-discuss@opensolaris.org > _______________________________________________ > opensolaris-discuss mailing list > opensolaris-discuss@opensolaris.org -- Scott McClung (sc...@mcclung.com) | AIM: McClungSR | ICQ: 13898523 _______________________________________________ opensolaris-discuss mailing list opensolaris-discuss@opensolaris.org
