Hi I want to figure out how many packets are getting dropped at the NIC when I use a packet sniffer like snort.
When I try to access the nocanput figure via se nx.se at the same time as doing a tcpreplay (from another machine) and a tcpdump on the host interface - bge1- ( to simulate a busy network ) I am getting a Segmentation fault in se. Should I be able to do this? Is is because tcpdump is putting the NIC into promiscuous mode? Or because tcpdump is bypassing the networking stack? Is there any other way to get a nocanput via a kstat command - without using se nx.se? Help please!
