Atul, Ok, now we're getting somewhere... This is the 6/06 version of Solaris 10. There have been a few updates since then. One of these is that dtlogin has been moved from the legacy (rc based) dtlogin script to the svc cde-login service. If I recall, I tried to use gdm back then without success. However, I think the reason it won't start is because dtlogin is running. You can check this by:
1) Stopping dtlogin "/etc/init.d/dtlogin stop" 2) Clearing the gdm problem "svcadm clear gdm2-login" If gdm2 starts up, then the problem was that dtlogin was running.
