As James mentioned in his reply, the "Developer" choice involves a "simplified" 
installer.  If your Solaris machine is connected to a broadband router, you 
will get a bunch of annoying messages during boot (such as " . . . My 
unqualified host name (localhost) . . .; sleeping for retry . . ." )  This 
added to the booting time, & I still don't know how to solve it.

I have also noticed that, at least with SXCE 69, the first option (Developer 
Edition) does not automatically provide a Google Mail option in Thunderbird; 
whereas, it does with the second choice (Express Edition).

With our experience, the second option also provides a smoother operation.  
When installed with the Developer Edition, we frequently saw crash messages 
popped up (though nothing seemed to have gone wrong) when GNOME was being 
loaded up.  Much smoother with the second option.
