I'm talking about Solaris Express... So, if there are never going to be any patches issued for Solaris Express, then why have the Update-Manager applet loaded on the default gnome panel? For that matter, why not just remove or hide it all together if it's not going to ever be used in Solaris Express?

Once I've installed Solaris, surely there are pathces/etc that are released, currently it looks as if I need to "register" my installation of Solaris in order to get access to these patches and that appears to require some kind of support contract with Sun. Is there any way to get these updates without buying a $240/year contract? It depends what you're asking about. If you're asking about a commercial version of Solaris (such as Solaris 10), then there are both free patches (security fixes and the like) and paid-for ones. This isn't the right list for that question, though. If you're asking about an OpenSolaris-based distribution, such as Solaris Express, then, no, there are no patches available, but there are free regular upgrades. Patches aren't created for releases that are still under development. -- James Carlson, Solaris Networking <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Sun Microsystems / 1 Network Drive 71.232W Vox +1 781 442 2084 MS UBUR02-212 / Burlington MA 01803-2757 42.496N Fax +1 781 442 1677 _______________________________________________ opensolaris-discuss mailing list opensolaris-discuss@opensolaris.org
