Howdy Leal!
If I can help please let me know, except I live in the US, I run the
Dallas Fort Worth OpenSolaris Users Group and could share with you what
we are doing if you want to know you can check out
http://www.opensolaris.org/os/community/os_user_groups/dfw-osug/. My
wife is a "Gaucha" from Sao Luis Gonzaga, RS, Brasil, so I go to Porto
Alegre once a year and would be more than happy to present to your new
OpenSolaris Users Group once you get started. You really have two
options and I really think you should consider option 2 first:
Option 1 - Standard Process:
Go to the following OpenSolaris web site for information on starting an
OpenSolaris Users Group
http://opensolaris.org/os/community/os_user_groups/ - below is an excerpt:
Starting and Maintaining an OpenSolaris User Group: Responsibilities
If there is no established user group in your area, you can start a
new group. Contacts to create new user group infrastructure are Jim
Grisanzio and Eric Boutilier, and you can reach them on ug-discuss
(sign up <http://mail.opensolaris.org/mailman/listinfo/ug-discuss>,
archives <http://mail.opensolaris.org/pipermail/ug-discuss/>, forum
<http://opensolaris.org/jive/forum.jspa?forumID=50>). Send mail to
that list with your intention, your location, your OpenSolaris ID, and
the number of people in your user group. It is expected that your
group will have already met once to demonstrate a genuine interest. If
you qualify, we'll be happy to set up a page for your group within the
OpenSolaris User Group Community, give you permission to edit that
page, and create an opensolaris.org mail list for your members to
communicate. The page and list will open with a minimum amount of
content, but it's expected that you will begin editing your page right
away so the page is not empty. As a leader of your new group, it is
also expected that you will maintain your mail list (filter spam,
add/remove names, communicate with the OpenSolaris webmaster and other
UG leaders, etc). Mail lists that are opened but abandoned or not
maintained regularly are spam traps and will be closed with a one
month notice from the UG Community lead and/or the OpenSolaris
webmaster. Also, if the UG has no content on its page at all, the page
will be hidden after that same one month notice. If a leader can not
be found for either the list or the page, we have to assume that the
UG has been abandoned and both will be deleted.
Option 2- OpenSolaris Brazil Portal Project
Please try contacting the OpenSolaris Brazil Portal Project Leaders
(http://br.opensolaris.org/leaders/) first, as they may have more
insight and information on what is happening in Brasil, their portal is
at http://br.opensolaris.org/ and is in portugues. I have copied them
on this email and have listed some of their contact information below.
Boa Sorte!
Obrigado!

Hello,
I'm trying to find a local (Brazilian) Opensolaris Community/Group, but without
luck.
The google search about that topic, gives me results like:
http://www.opensolaris-br.org (That is a shame). I'm a Solaris/POSIX big fan,
and ALL this project (OpenSolaris) is great accomplishment for the *nix
users/admins. So, we (Brazil) NEED to participate of it.
I live in Porto Alegre (state of Rio Grande do Sul), and my real objective is
create a user group here. I think that first of all, we would need a active
Brazilian user group, that all know about, and can ask for directions.
Sorry if i do not know how to use google, but the fact is that i already sent
email to SUN employes here in Brazil, and did not receive response.
I did see some OpenSolaris groups in other countries that receive presentations
and have a direct contact with (ZFS, DTrace...) developers. If we have a
organization, we could try to receive that presentations here too. I think that
a HowTo explaining the procedures to create such user groups would be nice to
OpenSolaris project. We need documentation, Howtos, mailing lists in our
language, etc.
Thanks very much for your time.
Leal.
