But does that matter for a graphical app like this? I haven't used it yet, but
almost every package having SUNW on the front in the GUI doesn't help me at
all, I'm pretty sure.
Having part of the package name helps even less. Sure, you could put
the prefix back in another column, but why not have it in the package
name properly. It messes up the sorting, hides information, and has the
potential for confusing different packages which are the same except
for the vendor prefix, and why strip some prefixes off and not others?
So if we are displaying package names, display them as is. We need to
work harder at displaying other information that helps users work out
what software they have than relying on the alphabet soup that goes
into many package names.
