Hi all, well using a suse system I downloaded the opensolaris express using the sun download
manager app. it created the images with files ending in a through e. it also had those in
zipped format but I did not bother opening them as from a ls -l they looked slightly small
then the files of the same name that were not zipped. I assumed that this meant that the sun
download manager app already unzipped the files for me (could that be my first mistake?)
anyway I then did a cat a b c d e > solarisexpress.iso where a-e were the files ending
with those letters. I burnt 2 dvd's one after doing a chmod 777 on the file and one leaving
it at its defaults (wasnt sure if I had to make it executable). to burn the dvd's I used an
app called k3b and did a "burn dvd image" from the tools drop down menu. now when
I look at the dvd I see these files/folders

folders: developer tools license solaris_11 boot

files: copyright jdsthirdpartylicensereadme readme autorun.inf autorun.sh
installer

so I hope that means I did the process correctly

problem is when I reboot the pc it doesn not boot from the dvd. I know the dvd
works because I tested by inserting from the suse dvd and it saw it and was
ready to start the install. so pleases let me know if I have missed a simple
step either in the download/solarisexpress.iso creation or in the actuall
burning of the dvd...thanks much...

Did you verify the MD5 sums?
