This is my mighty Maxdata laptop which has a "Pentium 4 Mobile" (=one
core which executes only one thread, turning-off power management etc.
does not help) ... but the problem occurs on a wide range of systems
(incl. Pentium 4 with HyperThreading (e.g. two threads per core)),
AMD-X2 (dual-core) and single-core AMD chips) - and usually when the
host OS is doing some swapping...
