I've seen a couple of points following the "Articles" project proposal that appear to require clarification.
1. The Articles project proposal is proposing a project, not a community, and therefore follows the project proposal process. This process means that the proposal must be seconded to be approved. According to the forum listing, at least the first three replies expressed support for the Articles project. 2. The Articles project has no preexisting relationship with any community. The relationship between this project and any existing (or future) community is yet to be negotiated. If the project never becomes meaningful to users directly, or through a community, that's okay. (Conversely, it is fine for a would-be project proposer to negotiate community endorsements in advance; it is not, however, necessary.) 3. BigAdmin is a web property owned by Sun Microsystems. Its aims are not necessarily those of any project or community associated with OpenSolaris. I wouldn't use its existence--or any Sun program's--as a reason not to start an OpenSolaris project, as Sun probably has a program for everything... If you believe the current project proposal process is insufficiently heavyweight or lacks controlling input from potentially related communities, please comment to that effect on [EMAIL PROTECTED] - Stephen -- Stephen Hahn, PhD Solaris Kernel Development, Sun Microsystems [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://blogs.sun.com/sch/ _______________________________________________ opensolaris-discuss mailing list opensolaris-discuss@opensolaris.org
