Thank You. I'll look it up. I should be able to figure it out by
cross referencing the HCL and the man pages. The trick is, not all
drivers listed in the man pages are available on all the three
platforms (x86-x64-sparc). This was a very painful lesson I learned
two years ago.

Yup. Historical (hysterical?) reasons. With the release of Solaris 10
we've had a great deal of convergence in a number of drivers, and the
requirement from PSARC (amongst others) has been that unless a team has
an incredibly good reason (+ supporting data) then new features and
drivers must be cpu-neutral.

If you're going to go FC then you might want to try to grab an fc switch as well, so that you can do multipathing in a slightly more easy fashion than without a switch.
I'd like to, but this is for my personal research purposes, unless I
can hit "boots to some kind of a prompt" auction on the ebay.
What kind of a switch do you recommend that I get?

I believe you can get cheap Brocade and QLogic switches off ebay. I
don't have a personal preference or recommendation -- the major vendors
(Brocade/QLogic/McData) all seem to be quite good.

And if I don't have a switch, what kind of issues can I expect?

Well you might find it a little more fiddly to do multipathing, but
*shrug* off-hand I can't think of anything that would really make
your life difficult. If you can get a dual-ported enclosure (eg a5200)
then that would be fine -- assuming you don't mind the heat output! :-D
