One question: when you look a the way the installer works on Solaris/x86,
you see that it pulls archives in and uncompresses them.

Is there any compelling reason not to symlink them to areas on the
DVD/install image?

(Ah, for the DVD/CD you want to be able to unmount it later without
having to reboot; but for netinstall it seems somewhat wasteful to
pull it over the network and store it in memory)
