I did not checked the features of FreeBSD Ports, but Joerg and I try to
achieve this with SPS too.  Right now we are working on verification of
 created tar-pkgs.  So switching from tarfiles to "whatever package
system" will be a simple task.

My hope is that we have a little advantage in allowing 3 different make 
programs and beeing
portable as possible.
