There was no need to reinvent hot water. Solaris comes with all the necessary 
tools to make IPSec work seamlessly, including tools for X.509 certificate 
generation and/or tools to create a Diffie-Hellman preshared key.

One should NEVER, EVER "install manually" unless you are about to make a 
package out of the software, and even in that case one should use `lofiadm` / 
LOFS to create a fake root to install into.

No software should ever be installed on the system unless it's packaged, period.
