Should work, I would definitely get the latest build you can. Build 19 which 
is not out yet would be good for that machine if others fail, since the 
acpica was changed to work with another HP laptop recentely I believe. At 
least I believe that is what Dana Meyers was telling me, and he would know 
best as he's the engineer working on it.;-) Dana does follow this list so 
could tell you the exact laptop he was working to fix, but it was an HP and 
some Toshibas exhibited the same problem.

Why don't you expect the built-in NIC to work?

Could you post the output from prtconf -pv for the NIC?
