The build/test farm would be available to OpenSolaris developers, and will

Please think about a way that would help SchilliX.
Let me repeat what I remember from an earlier discussion:
It seems that these machines run Sun Solaris and are intended to be used
with bfu.
How should we then remove all the software and files that is not part
of OpenSolaris or SchilliX and that would falsify test results?

Here's some more detail...
We are working on several test initiatives. The most relevant for this
thread are probably self-service testing and the test farm. Here's
some possibilities on how it *might* work:
1) Self-Service Testing
Developers would be able to select regression tests and performance benchmarks
to be run with their BFU archives. After they make the request, they would be
able to monitor progress and review the results online. Email would also be used
to communicate start, error and completion events. Initially this would be using
internal Sun hardware (various platforms). Fresh installs would occur before
performing the BFU. Developers would pick which recent install build is
consistent with their BFU. We are also looking at using developer provided
install images.
2) Test Farm
Developers would be able to reserve a test machine. They would have secure
access to the serial console and be able to do remote logins to that machine
as root. They can download their code and test it as they wish. In addition,
we may be providing an automated install and bfu capability that gets the
test machine in a good state for testing in a more efficient manner.
This information is preliminary, and it will be changing, but it gives you
some idea what these capabilities might look like.
Cheers,
Jim
