libxml2 is one of these not well tested source balls.

It comes with a install-sh script that does only install half of the files
because it does not match the usage :-(

In addition, you can only build amd64 versions of libxml2 after you did build
and install libm and libz.......

I hope that I'll soon have a sps package for libxml2.

It may make sense to note that sps did change recently. It now includes
a target "tarpkg" that includes a tar archive with installable binaries.

You don't need to be root to create the tar archives as I recently added
a  pkglist= option to star that does somilar things than the cpio id/permission
filter that is used when compiling Solaris.
