Q: Is there a "golden source" ?

That may seem like an odd question given that the immediate response may
be "source to what?" Well really I am looking at the massive hg update
that I pulled in today for ON and I wondered if I could even build what I
had in my onnv-gate workarea. In truth I don't know. I would like to be
able to at least build ON and all of the X11 bits but there is no clear
path to get that done anymore. The README.opensolaris is pretty silly as
it is just plain wrong. Again. BFU is gone as are "Pre-built BFU archives"
and forget a source tarball. That is all history.

The developer reference (
http://hub.opensolaris.org/bin/view/Community+Group+on/devref_2 ) refers
to /opt/onbld/bin still but there is nothing at
http://dlc.sun.com/osol/on/downloads/b143/ that looks like onbld anymore.

So I have to wonder if the source update I pulled in today has any value
other than a curiosity or can I actually build what I just received? If
the answer is "yes, that really is the golden source with FCS Quality"
then I have to ask "How does one build that?"

The available docs don't really answer that question in any clear manner.
