The Sun Privacy office has nixed the idea of bugster automatically exposing
the e-mail address of every Sun employee who updates a bug report without
any sort of filtering, opt-in, or opt-out.

As far as I know they haven't been asked about allowing Sun employees to
opt-in to exposing their e-mail addresses on an individual basis, and that
seems hardly more objectionable than allowing Sun employees to subscribe
and post to opensolaris.org mailing lists that expose their e-mail address.
