Of course, you can always look at the OpenSolaris kernel code to try to figure this out. Also, if it's not available through some SPARC instruction, perhaps there's a hypervisor interface. Check out the API specification at <URL:http://opensparc.info/cgi-bin/goto.php?w=http://opensparc-t1.sunsource.net/specs/Hypervisor-api-current-draft.pdf>. That same document talks about the machine description.
