Hi there! Thank you for sharing this hint! 

However, it seems this is not the problem in my case; looking at the
message sent by Wireshark (network analyzer) I can see that the word
"halt" was suffixed by 0d0a (\r\n) which should indicate clearly to the
server that the command is to be treated, as far as I understand.

It seems I forgot to attach the wireshark output in my original mail, so
I'm sending it this time. In this file (capture.txt), on line 82, we can
clearly see the command sent "0000  68 61 6c 74 0d 0a
halt.." which contains the '\r\n' character.
