AND various Cortex-M3 devices too ... :)

THough it's worth noting the details differ enough that talking
about "SPI" as an interface is ambiguous.  Talking about the
interface to the <type> chips from <Vendor-X> isn't.  And that
is what I'll call a "transport".  (You'll see some detailed
proposals from me before long.)

As some folk know, most of the FT2232 JTAG adapters can be made
to talk SPI quite easily ... since JTAG is, at some level, just
a variant of SPI.

So at some point, getting good SPI support might involve someone
sorting out the mess which is the FT2232 driver ... factoring it
into more manageable chunks.
