I believe adding code in OpenOCD to talk directly to the internet would be a Bad Idea because firewalls will stop a huge audience from reporting. These firewalls are paranoid about everything: HTTP, SMTP, ftp, etc. You name it! :-) Better a smaller more representative sampling than a huge skewed one.
