It would of course be great to extend openocd to other architectures. For AVR programming there is already the excellent open source avrdude project. But it would be nice to be able to use an ARM programmer as an AVR programmer too! One issue may be the number of different AVR devices, there are hundreds of them with a rapid rate of new introductions.
