Well we don't expect FX to know if an AWT event handler is registered - especially one at the application level, ie via https://docs.oracle.com/en/java/javase/21/docs/api/java.desktop/java/awt/Desktop.html#setOpenURIHandler(java.awt.desktop.OpenURIHandler) What I mean is that if FX acquired a similar API, and was the hosting toolkit, I would expect it to check if there was a "javafx.desktop.Desktop" URI Handler installed and forward only if that was "null".
