Hello. Today I downloaded from the testing directory
(at mirror.math.princeton.edu/pub/) OI-hipster-gui-20241130.iso and
dd-ed it to a USB stick. (The sha256sum checked out OK.) I rebooted
the machine and OI started to boot. It sat at "Preparing live image
for use" for a while and then: Requesting System Maintenance Mode.
(There was a reference to /lib/svc/share/README but there was no
/lib/svc subdirectory.) Console login service(s) cannot run.
Illumos-109018f8f9 November 2024. I could not reboot nor shutdown.
Ctrl-Alt-Del did nothing; had to power off. Cold-booted to try again
but got the same result.
Maybe this is just (hopefully useful) feedback. If there are
suggestions, I'd listen. Thanks, BTW, for the efforts of those who
keep this project going.
