Hi all, as you already might have noticed we have updated our firefox to a more recent ESR version a few days ago.
A similar update is imminent for thunderbird. Unlike for firefox the thunderbird update to 78.8.1 might cause troubles for you as the profile format has changed between the versions. So, after updating to the the new version there is no way back other than having a snapshot or backup of your users' thunderbird profiles. They are typically located below ~/.thunderbird/. Old profiles also might seem to be invisible after the upgrade because new profiles have automatically been created during first start of the new thunderbird. In a situation like this you might want to start thunderbird with the profile option -p: "thunderbird -p". With this you should be able to switch between profiles. Furthermore, it might be necessary to re-enter mail account passwords after the update. Special thanks to Carsten Grzemba who made both updates possible.
