@JonathanThank You for your feedback !Actually, intel graphics with vgatext driver works fine on my 1920x1080 resolution. playing video and creating some graphic on gimp also just works...when i choose Visual Effects from the theme manager, it returns with cant load visual effects !i got feedback and understood i need to use a discreet graphic adapter [nvidia] to get compiz work ! do i still follow what you said on creating VT et all ? if so, then do i need to go to vt everytime i boot ?

I use Hipster on laptop wint Intel graphics (945GM, Dell Latitude D620 C2D) and on reboot I need to go to virtual terminal (vt) console (Ctrl+Alt+F2, F3.. etc) and set resolution with '915resolution' (pfexec 915resolution 3c 1440 900) and then disable/enable gdm so it starts X in regular X resolution: pfexec svcadm disable gdm , pfexec svcadm enable gdm . So one would need to set up VT for illumos that is not enabled by default (currently in Hipster, switching VT's while X is working kills X etc) and make 915resolution compiled and working on it's machine, to get intel graphics working in OI Hipster in full resolution. (And yes, pfexec is working if your Administrator account is set to Primary Administrator and/or root role in /etc/user_attr because sudo is default... because for some reason sudo is default and pfexec is not for Administrative account..) Setting Virtual terminals: |pfexec svcadm enable -r vtdaemon vt2 vt3 vt4 vt5 vt6 console-login| (http://wiki.openindiana.org/oi/4.6+Remote+Console) Setting up 915resolution: (from Johathan Adams) https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B6o_jmGQm0dWMTgyZmNZWU51QXM/view?usp=sharing ------------------------------ Message: 2 Date: Fri, 9 Oct 2015 11:23:43 +0100 From: Jonathan Adams <t12nsloo...@gmail.com> To: Discussion list for OpenIndiana <openindiana-discuss@openindiana.org> Subject: Re: [OpenIndiana-discuss] openindiana-discuss Digest, Vol 63, Issue 2 Message-ID: <cakr4witjtvmbbbjlepntwqgto_slfgarywi2p3zg7afhjhk...@mail.gmail.com> Content-Type: text/plain; charset=UTF-8 or do what I did, and just put an init.d script early on to run the 915resolution for you ...
