Actually it's my own distro composed of illumos kernel + needed libs from openindiana required by distro_const. I looked at the patch, and it looks to be present inside my current illumos-gate repository, last checked out on may and used to build everything. Both smbd and libsmb.so inside the illumos-gate build are same size as the one on the running machine experiencing the problem. As far as I know, these are parts of the illumos kernel not depending on the additional OI libraries required to make a running system, so I suspect this may not be the result of the merging by distro_const. As long as the patch is there in my sources, would you suggest a pull of the sources and rebuild anyway? Or is there any other place I should look to check? Could you please provide mdb's ::stack output? ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Da: Yuri Pankov A: Discussion list for OpenIndiana Data: 29 agosto 2012 15.18.19 CEST Oggetto: Re: [OpenIndiana-discuss] More: smbd core dumps and transitions to maintenance On Wed, 29 Aug 2012 14:59:54 +0200 (CEST), Gabriele Bulfon wrote: I restarted the machine, attached truss to the "smbd start" process, tried accessing the share from a machine, and there it goes the SIGSEGV: /40: fcntl(18, F_SETLK64, 0xFC6F7730) = 0 /40: access("/var/tmp/sqlite_HKvnaIkoketg7Hs-journal", F_OK) Err#2 ENOENT /40: fstat64(18, 0xFC6F76B0) = 0 /40: fcntl(18, F_SETLK64, 0xFC6F7720) = 0 /40: fcntl(7, F_SETLK64, 0xFC6F73E0) = 0 /40: access("/var/smb/smbgroup.db-journal", F_OK) Err#2 ENOENT /40: fstat64(7, 0xFC6F7360) = 0 /40: llseek(7, 0, SEEK_SET) = 0 /40: read(7, " * * T h i s f i l e".., 1024) = 1024 /40: llseek(7, 7168, SEEK_SET) = 7168 /40: read(7, "\0\0\0\0\b\0 /40: llseek(7, 4096, SEEK_SET) = 4096 /40: read(7, "\0\0\0\0\b\0 (\0\0\0\0\0".., 1024) = 1024 /40: fcntl(7, F_SETLK64, 0xFC6F73B0) = 0 /40: close(7) = 0 /40: close(18) = 0 /40: Incurred fault #6, FLTBOUNDS %pc = 0xFED8FED4 /40: siginfo: SIGSEGV SEGV_ACCERR addr=0xFDF9C9A0 /40: Received signal #11, SIGSEGV [default] /40: siginfo: SIGSEGV SEGV_ACCERR addr=0xFDF9C9A0 ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Da: Gabriele Bulfon A: Discussion list for OpenIndiana Data: 29 agosto 2012 14.45.41 CEST Oggetto: [OpenIndiana-discuss] smbd core dumps and transitions to maintenance Hi, looks like kdb5kdc was not the cause of problems (looks like...). I created the principal through the kerberos tool, restarted the machine and it was all fine. So I joined again my domani via smbadm, and after some trying to connect to the shares (falining), I found again smb was down in maintenance. I found many core.smbd.xxxxxxx files, but I can't find a reason for it....and I can't find smbd.log anywhere. I tried starting smbd manually, but it fails requesting the smb.conf, that I never had.... here's the pstack of one core: # pstack core.smbd.1346233592 core 'core.smbd.1346233592' of 24103:
