Hi all,

I've just set up a new oi151 workstation, but am having a problem using the
root role from any of the gui panels. (System -> Administration -> Services, or
nwam-manager-properties from top task bar).

When using the "lock" icon in the SMF Services panel, for example, it asks me
to select a user, and then to select a role, which I select "root", and then
that the role must be authenticated but it does not accept my password.

I can "sudo" with no problems, though.

And here's an interesting thing, I added a password to the root user with "sudo
passwd root" that is different to my user password. I figure this should have
no affect since root is a role not a user, right?

Now, in the services panel, I can select "matt" as the user, then "root" as the
role and then authenticate using the root password (not my user password).

Is this how it is supposed to work? To access the root role, you need to use
the root password, not your user password?

And if so, why did the installer ask for a root password but not configure it
correctly? (I could only access these panels after doing `sudo passwd root`)

Matt.
